Touchstone has been professional and helpful through the entire process. My first contact with them was by telephone. I explained that I was helping my 90 year old father to recover his DD214. My father-in-law, an 89 year old WWII veteran, passed away two months ago and because we had his DD214 papers we were able to have the Honor Guard present at his burial and taps was played. A member of the Honor Guard dropped to one knee with the folded US flag between his hands and in his presentation of the flag thanked my husband on behalf of the President for his father's service to our country. Until then I had no idea how powerful and emotional it is to be thanked for a loved one's service to our country and I wanted the same to be possible for my father when he passes. I asked my father where his DD214 were located, but he did not know. I then went online to try to figure out how to get a copy of it and realized the process could be very long. My father is in good health, but we are losing the men and women who served during WWII at the rate of 850 per day. I decided to contact Touchstone in order to speed the process. All along the way they updated me by email to let us know the status of our request. My Dad was delighted when his DD214 papers arrived about two weeks after we initiated the request. Their fee is reasonable and well worth the service. Thank you, Touchstone, for helping us and other veterans and their families to recover their very important military papers.
